Technology is not only a necessary tool; it is also shaping the present and the future of the world into a global village where communication, knowledge exchange and cultural interactions are a simple click away. This technology is available worldwide, and even to those in the so-called developing countries. Now more than ever, people everywhere have the chance to be part of this transformation, playing a role by voicing their opinions and contributing to the global knowledge.

The aim of the 6th Learning and Technology Symposium is to increase the awareness among the local and regional community about the global digital nation to which they now belong and to acquaint them with their “newly acquired citizenship”. The point is not only to learn how to use new technologies like blogs, wikis, or virtual worlds. Nor is it to merely consume information, as was done for decades with radio and television, but rather to take advantage of opportunities to engage, participate, and be heard. “If you don’t write your own history, someone else will do it for you.”
